Experts discussed the movement of investment flows in chemistry and petrochemistry
A Panel on Investments to Innovations, organised by NIITEKHIM OAO and EXPOCENTRE AO, has been held within the Khimia 2020 exhibition.
The participants of the Panel got acquainted with the new report of NIITEKHIM OAO on the state of innovation processes in the chemical complex of Russia. The report was delivered by Diana Kudryashova, Research Director at NIITEKHIM. The first part overviewed the chemical industry performance indicators from 2017 to 2020. The second part provided data on dynamics, structure and volume of own and raised funds in fixed assets of the chemical sector. Thus, in 2019 investments into production of chemicals and chemical products amounted to 443.6 billion rubles, and into production of rubber and plastic products – to 46.4 billion rubles.
According to Diana Kudryashova, in recent years, the industry has become attractive for investments. For example, SIBUR has put into test operation ZapSibNeftekhim, the largest petrochemical complex in Russia, producing 1.5 million tons of polyethylene and 0.5 million tons of polypropylene. Acron launched two new units in Veliky Novgorod to produce nitric acid with a total capacity of 270,000 tonnes per year. In 2019, Acron (Veliky Novgorod) completed 28 investment projects for production of chemical and petrochemical products with a total investment of over RUB 75 billion, which is significantly higher than in 2018, when the investment volume was RUB 42.4 billion.
In his speech, Vladimir Savchuk, Director of Chimvest Scientific and Technical Centre, told about the state measures to support the chemical industry. He informed that already for the period of January-September 2020 the total amount of the state support to the organisations of the chemical industry has amounted to 3,213.8 million rubles.
The Panel was attended by the President of the Russian Chemists Union Viktor Ivanov, representative of the Industrial Development Fund Sergey Lagutin, Head of the Department of Chemical Industry of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade Darya Shevyakina and representatives of the industry business community.
In the course of the event, the participants considered government support measures to stimulate businesses to implement innovative projects on producing fine import-substituting/export-oriented products.
