Expocentre opened its doors to Khimia 2019 international exhibition

The 22nd edition of the Khimia 2019 international exhibition for the chemical industry and science was launched at Expocentre Fairgrounds.

At the opening ceremony State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Viktor Evtukhov welcomed the participants and visitors to Khimia 2019. He emphasised the importance of this event for the chemical industry. He noted the success of Russian chemical companies and prospects of their further development. It has been confirmed by the volumes of declared investments up to 2030 and beyond and by the activities in all sectors of the chemical industry.

Deputy Minister of Energy of Russia Pavel Sorokin also told about an expected growth of investments in the industry and increase in production of chemicals and petrochemicals. According to him, Khimia is a high profile event for coordination of the industry and better understanding of its needs by the departments.

Vice President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dmitry Kurochkin expressed his confidence that Khimia 2019, that had been notable for its influential participants from many countries, would enhance the position of Russia in the global market.

Director General of Expocentre AO Sergey Bednov welcomed the participants and visitors to Khimia 2019 and recalled the history of the exhibition. The first exhibition was held in 1965 and over the years it has remained important annually confirming its relevance. 

The head of Expocentre thanked all ministries, departments, industry associations, and research centres which took an active part in the project. Khimia 2019 is organised by Expocentre and supported by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Chemists Union, NIITEKHIM OAO, the Chimvest Scientific and Technical Centre, the Mendeleev Russian Chemical Society, the Chemistry Department of Lomonosov Moscow State University, and the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia. The trade show runs under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Sergey Bednov pointed out to a steady growth of the Khimia exhibition. This year the latest developments and advanced technology are showcased by 395 Russian and foreign companies from 24 countries. The trade show presents chemical engineering, analytical and laboratory equipment, petrochemistry, green chemistry, plastics industry show, production automation and digitalisation, and other relevant areas. The innovation of this year is a special area of VR/AR solutions for the chemical industry. Khimia is accompanied by an interesting and action-packed supporting program.

The other participants in the opening ceremony were President of the Russian Chemists Union Viktor Ivanov, Deputy Director of the Department of National Research, Science and Technology and Innovation Policy of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Andrey Romanov, and President of the Russian Union of Oil and Gas Producers Genady Shmal. They also congratulated the participants, organisers, and visitors to Khimia 2019 on its opening.
