23 / 10 / 2017

On October 23, 2017, Expocentre Fairgrounds opened the doors of the 20th anniversary edition of the Khimia International Exhibition for Chemical Industry and Science.

During the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Sergey Tsyb read welcome addresses from Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov.

Mr. Tsyb added that Khimia had long proved to be the most professional platform for networking of businessmen, researchers and authorities.

In his speech, General Director of Expocentre Sergey Bednov noted that Khimia had been held in Moscow since 1965. Today it covers all sectors of the chemical industry and brings together current innovative ideas. This year, the show welcomes 400 companies from 19 countries. Belarus, China, France, Germany and Kazakhstan have national pavilions.

One of the most important topics of this edition is a growing role of small scale enterprises in the chemical industry. The Startup Chemzone will help small companies not only to demonstrate their developments but also meet investors and major industry players.

Once again Khimia will become an effective networking platform. The Expocentre for Counterfeit-Free Exhibitions project will also continue.

Mr. Bednov thanked the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and participating associations for cooperation and the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the provided auspices.

He also awarded President of the Russian Chemists Union Viktor Ivanov a diploma for the Union’s active participation in exhibition and convention activities and its 20th anniversary.

The exhibition runs till October 26, 2017.
