Khimia 2018: the industry’s largest trade show

Today Expocentre Fairgrounds have opened its doors to the 21st edition of the International Exhibition for the Chemical Industry and Science – Khimia 2018.  

At the opening ceremony, State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Viktor Evtukhov read the welcome addresses of Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev and Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov to Khimia’s participants and organisers.

Mr. Medvedev noted in his address that over the years the trade show had become a milestone for the professional community and traditionally brought together influential participants from all over the world. "It is important that Khimia 2018 plays host to the most promising Russian startup projects, and not only Russian innovative enterprises but also enterprises from all over the world are interested in their implementation. I am positive that the trade show will enable its participants to share their best practices, generate business leads, and the new products showcased here will be used in the chemical industry," continued the prime minister. 

Mr. Manturov highlighted that the chemical sector showed a steady growth rate, revamped production facilities, and developed production of innovative products. He wished all participants every success at the trade show.  

The opening ceremony was moderated by Deputy Director General of Expocentre Mikhail Tolkachev who thanked the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Chemists Union, NIITEKHIM OAO, the Mendeleev Russian Chemical Society, the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia, and the Chemical Department of Lomonosov Moscow State University for their support in managing this year's edition, and the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the auspices of which the show is held.  

This year Khimia welcomes 250 Russian and foreign companies from 19 countries. Belarus, China, Germany and Kazakhstan have national pavilions.

Mr. Tolkachev highlighted that the sponsors of Khimia 2018 were Uralchem and Uralkali. The show continues its traditional projects such as the Startup ChemZone, which gives sectoral startups and small business enterprises a unique opportunity to show their developments to a wide range of potential investors and industry majors, the Employment Centre, the Expocentre for Counterfeit-Free Exhibitions, and the Centre of Science and Education. The key event of the programme is the 6th edition of the Moscow International Chemical Forum.  

The exhibitors, organisers and visitors to Khimia 2018 were welcomed by Vice President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dmitry Kurochkin, President of the Russian Chemists Union Victor Ivonov, President of the Union of Oil and Gas Producers of Russia Genady Shmal, Director of the UNIDO Centre for International Industrial Cooperation in the Russian Federation Sergey Korotkov, and Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry of Lomonosov Moscow State University Valery Lunin.
