Meeting of International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) Committee devoted to the sustainable development of Responsible Care Leadership Group (RCLG ICCA) was held within the 15th International Exhibition Khimia’2009
For the first time in Russia within the 15th International Exhibition Khimia’2009 there will be held a Meeting of International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) Committee devoted to the sustainable development of Responsible Care Leadership Group (RCLG ICCA).
ICCA International Council, that brings together regional associations, leading chemical and petrochemical companies, plays a key role in information exchange among national chemical companies allowing adopting a unified position of the global chemical industry on various issues.
Within Khimia’2009 at the initiative of the Russian Union of Chemists there will be a session of ICCA Responsible Care Leadership Group. ICCA RCLG is the chemical industry representatives’ large-scale initiative on improving and increasing levels of technical, labor safety and ecology, and also on advancing products and manufacturing processes.
RCLG ICCA session is attended by heads of the industry associations from USA, European Union, Finland, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Israel, Brazil, New Zealand, Russia, etc., representatives of global companies BASF, DOW, Dow Corning and others, leading world experts in the field of industrial safety.
Speaking about importance of the event, President of the Russian Union of Chemists Viktor Ivanov noted that “the RCLG ICCA meeting in Moscow is of a historic importance. The opportunity to host the meeting in Russia reflects our foreign colleagues’ recognition and appreciation of the work performed by the Russian Union of Chemists and partner enterprises to meet requirements of the Responsible Care program”.
Current issues of chemical manufacturing safety worldwide, a strategy of managing chemical products all along the delivery chain through Global Product Strategy, new focuses on development in various regions in the field of chemical policy, products management, enterprises social policy efficiency estimation are discussed at the meeting. During the session there will be a discussion devoted to Russia’s initiatives on matters concerning chemical enterprises social responsibility by way of developing legislative and information preconditions for increasing chemical production safety for consumers and environment.
At RCLG ICCA session hosted by Expocentre a new chairman of a leading group of the countries participating in Responsible Care program is to be elected. The nominee for the position is Peter Cartwright, executive director of environmental, health and safety of Dow Corning.
