OFFICIAL OPENING OF KHIMIA’2009 AND PLASTICS INDUSTRY SHOW’2009

On 28 September Khimia’2009, the 15th International Exhibition for the Chemical Industry and Science, and Plastics Industry Show’2009, the 10th International Specialized Exhibition of Raw Materials, Equipment and Technology for the Plastics Industry, were officially opened at Expocentre Fairgrounds.

The Russian Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade Ivan S. Materov greeted the exhibitors and visitors to the events and expressed his certainty that both exhibitions would be a success and serve as a catalyst for the development of the national chemical sector. Mr Materov said measures are being taken to soften the blow of the recession on the Russian chemical enterprises, thus stimulating chemical industry recovery during the next edition of the event.

The Deputy Head of the Moscow City Science and Industrial Policy Department Nikolai D. Badaev, who spoke on behalf of the Moscow Government, noted the high standard of the exhibitions showcasing the latest chemistry developments. Held under the auspices of the Moscow Government, Khimia’2009 and Plastics Industry Show’2009, with accompanying events, attracted participation from the capital’s leading chemical enterprises.

As President of the Russian Chemists Union Victor P. Ivanov pointed out in his speech, substantial Russian and foreign exhibitors, broad international participation and a wide and diverse range of products to showcase make the two exhibitions   the key events for the chemical industry. In particular, Khimia’2009 alone enjoys participation from 300 national companies and allows them to demonstrate their innovations and discover something new to themselves.  The chemical sector develops on the basis of the chemical science. Pavel D. Sarkisov, President of D. Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia and President of Mendeleev Russian Chemical Society emphasized that the exhibitions had brought together the scientific elite of the chemical industry. And the accompanying event programme, comprising conferences, seminars and contests, deserved particular attention as well.  

 

The speakers at the ceremony were unanimous in saying that both exhibitions remain significant and highly relevant. Expocentre, the exhibitions organizer, gave due credit to all their partners who helped make the events a success. Khimia’2009 was organized with assistance from Roskhimneft ZAO, with support and participation from the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Chemists Union, the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC), under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Moscow Government, the Council of Heads of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of CIS. Plastics Industry Show’2009 was co-organized by production and Investment Company MAXIMA Inc. and Expocentre.
